{"id":267,"date":"2020-11-10T01:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-11-10T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/poetry.newspaperhistory.com\/?p=267"},"modified":"2020-11-10T01:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-11-10T06:00:00","slug":"dan-and-tim-and-pat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/desperaudio.com\/newspaperpoetry\/dan-and-tim-and-pat\/","title":{"rendered":"Dan and Tim and Pat"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\"><em>From <a href=\"https:\/\/chroniclingamerica.loc.gov\/lccn\/sn83045433\/1912-11-10\/ed-1\/seq-6\/\">The Washington Herald, November 10, 1912<\/a>.\nBy John Anschute.<\/em>\n \n\n Dan would have wooed either Madge or Ann\n \u00a0 \u00a0 If it had not been that\n Each girl had another suitor: there\n \u00a0 \u00a0 Was Tim and there was Pat.\n \n Dan met his rival Tim one day\u2014said\n \u00a0 \u00a0 Tim to Dan with a frown:\n \u201cI\u2019ll throw up a brick and you can court\n \u00a0 \u00a0 Madge, if it don\u2019t come down.\u201d\n \n Tim threw the brick, Dan lost the girl;\n \u00a0 \u00a0 \u2019Twas a cinch for him, of course.\n But Dan didn\u2019t mind it. \u201cTim,\u201d said he,\n \u00a0 \u00a0 \u201cI\u2019ll wurk that trick on Pat Bourse.\u201d\n \n Dan and Pat stood talking loudly\n \u00a0 \u00a0 Near an unfinished brick wall,\n All unmindful of the mortar the masons\n \u00a0 \u00a0 Above let fall.\n \n \u201cWe looks aloike to Ann,\u201d said Pat, \u201can\u2019\n \u00a0 \u00a0 The wan that gets her han\u2019\n Will have t\u2019 foight an\u2019 whip the other\n \u00a0 \u00a0 Wan.
