Kiser.<\/em>\n \n\n Finance is something that appears\n \u00a0 \u00a0 To be away beyond my ken;\n I\u2019ve studied it for years and years,\n \u00a0 \u00a0 In common with my fellow men;\n But there are things about it which\n \u00a0 \u00a0 Are deeply mystifying yet;\n How is it that some men are rich\n \u00a0 \u00a0 And at the same time far in debt?\n \n My place in life is rather low,\n \u00a0 \u00a0 And I may never cease to strive;\n I\u2019m poor, although I do not owe\n \u00a0 \u00a0 A cent to any man alive;\n The luxuries that come to me\n \u00a0 \u00a0 Are very few and very small;\n Things may be as they ought to be,\n \u00a0 \u00a0 But I can\u2019t understand at all.\n \n They say that old man Billingsworth\n \u00a0 \u00a0 Owes money almost everywhere;\n His people travel o\u2019er the earth,\n \u00a0 \u00a0 And never seem to have a care;\n With eighty thousand dollars less\n \u00a0 \u00a0 Than nothing he is living high,\n And looks with splendid haughtiness\n \u00a0 \u00a0 Down on such humble ones as I.\n \n He has a long, low, rakish car\n \u00a0 \u00a0 In which he proudly rides about;\n He smokes a large and good cigar\n \u00a0 \u00a0 And always has his chest pushed out;\n The house in which he dwells is grand,\n \u00a0 \u00a0 His wife wears gems that cost a pile;\n His son has never turned a hand,\n \u00a0 \u00a0 His daughters dress in queenly style.\n \n He does not labor day by day,\n \u00a0 \u00a0 As I and those around me do;\n He\u2019s very deep in debt, they say,\n \u00a0 \u00a0 And always sinking deeper, too;\n Yet, worse than merely penniless,\n \u00a0 \u00a0 He shines where I would have no chance;\n The simple truth must be, I guess,\n \u00a0 \u00a0 That I can\u2019t understand finance.<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
