Guest.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There ain\u2019t the joy in foreign skies that those of home possess,<br>An\u2019 friendliness o\u2019 foreign folks ain\u2019t home-town friendliness;<br>An\u2019 far-off landscapes with their thrills don\u2019t grip me quite as hard<br>As jes\u2019 that little patch o\u2019 green that\u2019s in my own back yard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s good to feel a stranger\u2019s hand grip heartily your own,<br>It\u2019s good to see a stranger\u2019s smile when you are all alone;<br>But though a stranger\u2019s grip is warm, an\u2019 though his smile is sweet,<br>There\u2019s something in the home folks\u2019 way that has the stranger beat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A railroad train that\u2019s outward bound bears many a man an\u2019 dame<br>Who think a thousand miles away the sunsets brighter flame;<br>An\u2019 seekin\u2019 joys they think they lack they pack their grips an\u2019 roam,<br>An\u2019 just as I, they some day find the sweetest joys at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Away from home the girls are fair an\u2019 men are kind of heart,<br>An\u2019 there you\u2019ll always find a few who sigh when you depart;<br>But though you rode a million miles o\u2019er gleaming railroad track,<br>You\u2019d never find a joy to beat the joy of gettin\u2019 back.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Omaha Daily Bee, September 22, 1913.
