Down here in Cactus Center our hull citadel\u2019s been took
By a movin\u2019 picture outfit that is fillin\u2019 every nook;
We\u2019ve been crowded out by actors till there ain\u2019t a bed in town;
We sleep in traps and blankets, out on the prairie brown;
They\u2019re doin\u2019 light housekeepin\u2019 on the Blue Front\u2019s upper floor,
And the booze joint closes early, so\u2019s to let the actors snore;
There\u2019s a bunch of leadin\u2019 ladies roped and hog tied the hotel,
And there\u2019s actors first at table when throbs out the dinner bell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are stagin\u2019 wondrous dramas on the ranches hereabouts,
And the cattle go plumb loco when they hear the actors\u2019 shouts;
There are juveniles and \u201cheavies\u201d prancin\u2019 round the lonely hills;
There are guns forever poppin\u2019, but they ain\u2019t the sort that kills;
There\u2019s a sound like canvas rippin\u2019 when a bunch shoots off some blanks,
While the sweatin\u2019 operators turn them movin\u2019 kodak cranks;
Roll my bed, give me a grubstake\u2014I must mush out in the sand
Where there\u2019s rattlesnakes and gilas, but there ain\u2019t no movie band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lo the Injun dreams of goin\u2019 to a huntin\u2019 ground of peace,
Where there\u2019s no objection follers when he lifts a white man\u2019s fleece;
It is a land of runnin\u2019 water, where the grass is always good,
Where there\u2019s buffalo and fodder, and the squaws can gather wood;
But the cowboy now is dreamin\u2019 of a place that\u2019s like poor Lo\u2019s,
Where there\u2019s signs up, in addition, barrin\u2019 movin\u2019 picter shows;
For there ain\u2019t no joy in Cow Land, and sighs fill the native\u2019s breast,
