By Robert Herrick.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thou art to all lost love the best,<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; The only true plant found,<br>Wherewith young men and maids distrest<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; And left of love are crown\u2019d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When once the lover\u2019s rose is dead,<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Or laid aside forlorn,<br>The willow garlands \u2018bout the head<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Bedew\u2019d with tears are worn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When with neglect, the lover\u2019s bane,<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Poor maids rewarded be<br>For their love lost, their only gain<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Is but a wreath from thee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And underneath thy cooling shade,<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; When weary of the light,<br>The love-spent youth and lovesick maid<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Come to weep out the night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From The Birmingham Age Herald, May 24, 1914.
