By Bayoll Ne Trele.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>A summer wood,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A vagrant breeze,<br\/>A writing tablet<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;On my knees;<br\/>A rhythmic swaying<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Of the boughs,<br\/>An anxious knitting<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Of my brows;<br\/>A hundred things<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;With meaning fraught,<br\/>Yet not one single thought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>A seat of rock,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A rug of moss,<br\/>A ceiling where<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Green branches toss;<br\/>A bird voice calls<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;From some far nook,<br\/>A leaf spins downward<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;To the brook.<br\/>A crackling noise,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A cow! I flee\u2014<br\/>The beast is headed straight for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>My seat of rock,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;My ceiling green<br\/>Has just been changed\u2014<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;There\u2019s a fence between;<br\/>And on that rock<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Whence I did scud<br\/>There stands the cow<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;And chews her cud.<br\/>With placid eye<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;She looks me o\u2019er,<br\/>A-standing where<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I sat before,<br\/>And seems to say<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;O you high brow<br\/>I wonder who\u2019s<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The poet now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Omaha Daily Bee, July 27, 1914.
