By Miriam Teichner.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Dad and mother\u2019s picture, honeymooning at Niagara Falls;<br\/>Routed from the trunk among the rags and scraps and camphor balls.<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Mother\u2019s slender, fair, beguiling;<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Father\u2019s straight and proud and smiling,<br\/>Ah, the memories and fancies that the faded print recalls!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Mother\u2019s dressed in curious fashion; tiny bonnet, basque of plaid;<br\/>Father, too, is wondrous strangely, yes, astonishingly clad.<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Seated, she; behind her standing,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Trying hard to look commanding,<br\/>Father is, and both are scarcely more than children, lass and lad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Smiling lovers of the picture much has come to make you sad;<br\/>Faces both are lined and thinner since you mother are and dad.<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Girl and boy so fair and slender,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;How the heart grows warm and tender<br\/>Just to think of all the glowing hopes and fancies that you had.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Newark Evening Star, July 30, 1914.
