My Uncle Jim looked kind o\u2019 proud.
    I asked him for the reason\u2014
You know how he kin hold a crowd
    In any sort o\u2019 season.
Said he, \u201cI DO feel proud today.
    My words, I\u2019ve learned to weigh \u2018em.
I thought of several things to say
    An\u2019 then I didn\u2019t say \u2018em.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s easy to blaze forth an\u2019 give
    A wild illumination
An\u2019 smite the folks who seem to live
    In undeserved elation.
But words like those go oft astray.
    It\u2019s better to delay \u2018em,
An\u2019 think about the things you say
    Before you really say \u2018em.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s hard to judge your fellow-men
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0An\u2019 allus pick the winners.
We praise the guilty now an\u2019 then
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0An\u2019 picture saints as sinners.
I\u2019ll brag a little if I may.
