Moulton.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Once upon a midnight dreary, as I pondered, weak and weary,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,<br\/>While a short snooze I was snatching,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Suddenly there came a scratching, and \u2019twas on my chamber door.<br\/>\u201c\u2019Tis no visitor,\u201d I muttered, \u201cscratching at my chamber door.<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Just the cat and nothing more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>I knew what the cat expected, and I knew I was elected<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;So I grabbed the noisy feline to perform my nightly chore.<br\/>Down the cold stairway I hurried while the chilly breezelets scurried<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Round my shins and then I let him safely out the kitchen door.<br\/>I had put him out so often that it really made me sore,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Simply that and nothing more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Back to my hall room I ambled and into the bed I scrambled,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;When I heard a fearful wailing that I\u2019d often heard before.<br\/>\u2019Twas the same old caterwauling and the same old feline calling,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;As he vainly tried to get in at the self-same kitchen door.<br\/>Then I hastened down the stairway and was chilled through to the core,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Just to let him in once more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From The Topeka State Journal, September 23, 1914.
