By Ralph Bacon.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve quit a-goin\u2019 to Sunday school\u2014<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I\u2019m goin\u2019 to be as bad<br\/>As Captain Kidd or Nero was<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Or Jimmy Mayer\u2019s dad.<br\/>I\u2019m goin\u2019 to be so awful mean,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I\u2019m sure to go to hell;<br\/>An\u2019 when I see the devil, then<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I\u2019ll go to him an\u2019 tell<br\/>How that ol\u2019 man what catches dogs<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Came by our house one day<br\/>An\u2019 coaxed Spot right into his net<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;An\u2019 drug him away.<br\/>An\u2019 then I\u2019ll say, \u201cGood devil, please,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I\u2019ve come down here to work;<br\/>I\u2019m just as strong as any man,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;An\u2019 I will never shirk.<br\/>If you\u2019ll just let me tend the fire<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;An\u2019 keep it good an\u2019 hot,<br\/>Where you have put that wicked man<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Who took away old Spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Albuquerque Morning Journal, October 25, 1914.
