Crosby. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Oh! who has not seen Kitty Clyde?<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;She lives at the foot of the hill<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In a sly little nook<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;By the babbling brook,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;That carries her father&#8217;s old mill.<br\/>Oh! who does not love Kitty Clyde?<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;That sunny-eyed rosy-cheeked lass<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;With a sweet dimpled chin<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;That looks roguish as sin,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;With always a smile as you pass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>With a basket to put in her fish,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Every morning with line and a hook<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;This sweet little lass,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Through the tall heavy grass,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Steals along by the clear running brook.<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;She throws her line into the stream,<br\/>And trips it along the brook side,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Oh! how I do wish that I were a fish,<br\/>To be caught by sweet Kitty Clyde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>How I wish that I were a bee.<br\/>I&#8217;d not gather honey from flowers,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;But would steal a dear sip<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;From Kitty&#8217;s sweet lip,<br\/>And make my own hive in her bowers.<br\/>Or if I were some little bird<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I would not build nests in the air;<br\/>But keep close by the side of sweet Kitty Clyde<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;And sleep in her soft silken hair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From The Commoner, December 1, 1914.
