Moulton.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>There seems to be no place for me around home anywhere,<br\/>For every time I make a move maw says, \u201cDon\u2019t go in there.\u201d<br\/>There isn\u2019t a clothes press in the house that they\u2019ll let me go in.<br\/>Maw\u2019s bedroom has been closed and locked. They seem to be agin\u2019<br\/>My rummagin\u2019 around the place like I have always done.<br\/>I have so very little space it ain\u2019t a bit of fun.<br\/>When paw comes home at suppertime I can\u2019t go to the door<br\/>And meet him like I used to each evening any more.<br\/>He don\u2019t come in the sittin\u2019 room, but scoots right off upstairs,<br\/>Just like he was a-bein\u2019 chased by taggers or by bears.<br\/>They always talk in whispers, paw and maw, then look at me<br\/>As though I was some circus freak that they had paid to see.<br\/>And when they talk out loud they spell the things they want to say.<br\/>It looks as though, by gingerpop, that I am in the way.<br\/>I heard paw spell out \u201cpolar bear\u201d to maw the other night,<br\/>It sorter got me guessin\u2019, for he didn\u2019t spell it right.<br\/>Of course I ain\u2019t no Sherlock Holmes or anything like that,<br\/>But I\u2019ve been lookin\u2019 round a bit and found out quick as scat<br\/>They\u2019re framing up some deal on me. I don\u2019t know as I  ought,<br\/>But I\u2019ve dug up most of the things that they went out and bought.<br\/>Of course you musn\u2019t say a word, for I must act surprised<br\/>So that their secret schemes and plans may all be realized.<br\/>They\u2019ve got to have their little joke; they have it every year,<br\/>And start in to ignorin\u2019 me when Christmas time draws near.<br\/>It used to be a mystery, but we will let that pass,<br\/>For I kin see through it nowadays as plain as any glass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From The Daily Missoulian, December 7, 1914.
