Child.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>You need not watch for silver in your hair,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Or try to smooth the wrinkles from your eyes,<br\/>Or wonder if you\u2019re getting quite too spare,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Or if your mount can bear a man your size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll never come to shirk the fastest flight,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;To query if she really cares to dance,<br\/>To find your eye less keen upon the sight,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Or lose your tennis wrist or golfing stance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>For you the music ceased on highest note\u2014<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Your charge had won, you\u2019d scattered them like sand,<br\/>And then a little whisper in your throat,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;And you asleep, your cheek upon your hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Thrice happy fate, you met it in full cry,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Young, eager, loved, your glitt\u2019ring world all joy\u2014<br\/>You ebbed not out, you died when tide was high,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;An old campaigner envies you, my boy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Omaha Daily Bee, January 4, 1915.
