McKenna.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>In the bright scenes of nature no greater delights<br\/>Than the bright summer mornings and clear, cloudless nights,<br\/>When we think of the beauty of land and of sea<br\/>Then our hearts fill with gladness and happy are we.<br\/>No picture, how skillful, will ever compare<br\/>To the bright scenes of nature so charming and fair,<br\/>The hills and the valleys, the clear running stream,<br\/>All blending together in beauty serene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Let us gaze on the sun, on the sweet summer days<br\/>When it shines in all splendor with bright golden rays.<br\/>Once more let us turn to the sky in the West,<br\/>Bright day is declining, all nature at rest.<br\/>Let us list to the nightingale sing in the trees<br\/>And inhale the sweet roses in June\u2019s gentle breeze<br\/>When we sail o\u2019er the ocean, the moon sparkling bright,<br\/>Reflects on the water its clear, silvery light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>What joy and what pleasure when evening comes on<br\/>To list to the strains of sweet music and song,<br\/>To meet the dear friends that we all love so well<br\/>In our dear native homestead, where happiness dwells.<br\/>The bright scenes of nature and friends that we love<br\/>Is a reflex of Heaven, the land up above.<br\/>Soon springtime and summer once more will be here<br\/>To bring joy and gladness, fond hopes and good cheer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Newark Evening Star, February 26, 1915.
