Foley.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>They said it hurt morals, and maybe it harmed<br\/>Good morals, but folks were not greatly alarmed;<br\/>The few were concerned, but the many were prone<br\/>To leave the whole matter severely alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>They said it hurt culture, and maybe it had<br\/>A bearing on culture most certainly bad,<br\/>But left to itself it would work itself out.<br\/>There wasn\u2019t a thing to be worried about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>They said it hurt learning, and maybe it did,<br\/>But learning\u2019s a thing that expects to be hid.<br\/>And while there was much, they agreed, to be learned,<br\/>There wasn\u2019t good cause to be gravely concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>They said it hurt manhood, and maybe it meant<br\/>Some injury to it, as far as it went;<br\/>But this was no reason for clamor or fuss<br\/>As long as it didn\u2019t directly hurt us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>But when it hurt Business, the folks over town<br\/>Unitedly said that it must be put down<br\/>Whatever it was, and they stamped the thing out\u2014<br\/>For then it was something to worry about!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Grand Forks Daily Herald, March 1, 1915.
