By James Buckham.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a prosy kind of motto that you\u2019ll find is very rife<br\/>With the people you most envy for their rare success in life.<br\/>I\u2019ll admit it\u2019s not romantic, has no touch of the sublime,<br\/>But it\u2019s just the rule to work by\u2014namely, At it all the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll observe that men and women, who, \u2019tis said, have made their mark<br\/>Do not drop the chalk of effort at the first approach of dark;<br\/>And you\u2019ll find them at life\u2019s blackboard when the sun begins to climb<br\/>For, obedient to their motto, they keep at it all the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>The thing God sets them doing gets to be their chief delight;<br\/>\u2019Tis their first thought in the morning, and their last concern at night.<br\/>They will turn away from pleasure just as promptly as from crime;<br\/>Simple duty is their safeguard, for they\u2019re at it all the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Evening Journal, April 2, 1915.
