By Strickland Gillilan.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>It once was the rule, in your lifetime and mine,<br\/>That the fifty-year man was far gone in decline.<br\/>That he wore bushy whiskers and stooped as he walked,<br\/>And quavered a bit in his voice as he talked.<br\/>But, oh, what a change has come over mankind!<br\/>The fifty-year youngster of now isn\u2019t blind<br\/>Or halt or decrepit or whiskered\u2014nay! nay!<br\/>The sixty-year \u201ckid\u201d is the rule of today!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>There may be some snow at his temples, \u2019tis truth;<br\/>But folks say, \u201cSome people grow gray in their youth.\u201d<br\/>He\u2019s carefully groomed, and he\u2019s straight as a rod;<br\/>He laughs like a child and he smiles like a god.<br\/>He\u2019s natty and nobby and brisk as a boy\u2014<br\/>To meet him, to be in his presence, is joy.<br\/>Instead of December, he\u2019s April or May\u2014<br\/>The sixty-year youngster is with us to stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Albuquerque Morning Journal, April 18, 1915.
