By James Larkin Pearson.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat is the news in the paper today\u2014<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The news from over the sea?\u201d<br\/>The reader he flicked his fat cigar,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;And a billowy puff puffed he.<br\/>\u201cOh, nothing\u2014it speaks of a little fight,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;But it reads like childish play;<br\/>A trifle of fifty thousand dead\u2014<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;There\u2019s nothing important today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe city of Skippit was burned last night,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;And half of the people killed;<br\/>The living have fled, and the bloody streets<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;With charred black bones are filled.<br\/>The British dreadnaught, Mindyerbiz<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Torpedoed in Dareyou Bay;<br\/>The blood in Flanders is only knee deep\u2014<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;There\u2019s nothing important today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNot more than twenty-five million men<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Are facing the shot and shell,<br\/>And a trifle of ten times that, perhaps,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;At home \u2018mid terrors dwell.<br\/>Oh my! It\u2019s an awfully dull affair!<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Why don\u2019t they fight some?
