By Walter Scott.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>He is gone on the mountain,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;He is lost to the forest,<br\/>Like a summer dried fountain,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;When our need was the sorest.<br\/>The font reappearing<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;From the raindrops shall borrow<br\/>But to us comes no cheering,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;To Duncan no morrow!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>The hand of the reaper<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Takes the ears that are hoary,<br\/>But the voice of the weeper<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Wails manhood in glory.<br\/>The autumn winds rushing<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Waft the leaves that are serest.<br\/>But our flower was flushing<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;When the blighting was nearest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Fleet foot on the correi,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Sage counsel in cumber,<br\/>Red hand in the foray,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;How sound is thy slumber!<br\/>Like the dew on the mountain,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Like the foam on the river,<br\/>Like the bubble on the fountain,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Thou art gone, and forever!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Grand Forks Daily Herald, July 23, 1915.
