By Amy Lowell.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>I will mix me a drink of stars\u2014<br\/>Large stars with polychrome needles,<br\/>Small stars jetting maroon and crimson,<br\/>Cool, quiet, green stars.<br\/>I will tear them out of the sky,<br\/>And squeeze them over an old silver cup,<br\/>And I will pour the cold scorn of my Beloved into it,<br\/>So that my drink shall be bubbled with ice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>It will leap and scratch<br\/>As I swallow it down;<br\/>And I shall feel it as a serpent of fire,<br\/>Coiling and twisting in my belly.<br\/>His snortings will rise to my head,<br\/>And I shall be hot, and laugh,<br\/>Forgetting that I have ever known a woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the New York Tribune, July 26, 1915.
