Haskins.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oh, do I look as old to them<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;As they look young to me?<br>I mean the cop upon his beat,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The subway employee,<br>The fireman, the \u201cL\u201d guard and<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The U. S. regular,<br>The college boy with rah-rah clothes,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;And eke the baseball star.<br>Time was (and not so long ago)<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;They all looked old and sage,<br>For men of thirty seemed to bow<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Beneath the weight of age.<br>But step by step I overtook<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The decades, after while,<br>Until a man of thirty-nine<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Looked mighty juvenile;<br>And so, till now, when all of these<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Mere children seem to be.<br>Say, do I look as old to them<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;As they look young to me?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From The Sun, August 3, 1915.
