By Philander Johnson.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>The old home sometimes gets a trifle dreary<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;And you wander to the mountains or the sea,<br\/>And there you find, with feelings rather weary,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;That things are largely as they used to be.<br\/>The same old bus arrives with bump and rattle,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The same mosquitoes make you holler \u201couch.\u201d<br\/>You find the same old weeds, the same old cattle,<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The same old boarders with the same old grouch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>It isn\u2019t very long till you are yearning<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;For the city you were glad to leave behind.<br\/>Your heart grows light to think of a returning<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;To scenes that once disturbed your peace of mind.<br\/>You long to greet the same old glare and flurry<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;And hear the same old tunes ground out so loud,<br\/>And take the same old street car in a hurry<br\/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;And jostle onward with the same old crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Evening Star, August 10, 1915.
