No, we\u2019ll leave old Spot behind.\u201d\n But Spot he barked and Spot he whined,\n And soon made up his doggish mind\n \u00a0 To follow under the wagon.\n \n Away they went at a good round pace,\n And joy came into the farmer\u2019s face,\n \u201cPoor Spot,\u201d said he, \u201cdid want to come,\n But I\u2019m awful glad he\u2019s left at home.\n He\u2019ll guard the barn, and guard the colt,\n And keep the cattle out of the lot.\u201d\n \u201cI\u2019m not so sure of that,\u201d thought Spot.\n \u00a0 The dog under the wagon.\n \n The farmer all his produce sold\n And got his pay in yellow gold;\n Home through the lonely forest.
